About

For the culminating event of the Diocese of Newark’s 150th Anniversary, join Bishop Hughes on a powerful pilgrimage through Alabama, retracing the footsteps of history and the brave souls who fought for civil rights.

Visit Birmingham, where the 16th Street Baptist Church and the Legacy Museum bear witness to the struggles and triumphs of the movement. In Montgomery, stand at the spot where the bus boycott ignited a movement, then travel to Hayneville to learn about the martyrdom of Jonathan Myrick Daniels, an Episcopal seminarian who gave his life in pursuit of justice.
