About

What: A celebration of the life and legacy of Óscar Romero, the great 20th-century martyr and saint, in solidarity with our Hispanic neighbors. Eucharist in Spanish, with reception to follow.
Where: Grace Church – 3901 Park Ave, Union City, NJ. (Parking available across the street at the Lidl, and ample public transit options available.)

Óscar Romero, the Archbishop of El Salvador (1977-1980), was a voice for the poor whose life and death — he was assassinated while celebrating mass in a hospital chapel — called the church to stand in solidarity with the powerless against the “powers and principalities” of the world. The Episcopal Church commemorates Romero and the other Martyrs of El Salvador every year on March 24.

This service is hosted by Grace Episcopal Church, Union City, and is sponsored by the Absalom Jones Regional Ministry Network. It is the first in a series of monthly Spanish-language services and events open to all members and neighbors of the Diocese of Newark.
