About

This year’s Clergy Retreat will begin at 2 PM on Tuesday, February 18, and end around 2 PM on Thursday, February 20.

Topic

In a world where the needs are high and the daily demands are endless, time and space for rest can be illusive. In a culture where success is measured by productivity, keeping Sabbath can feel like a waste of time, a selfish expenditure, or a boundary that is impossible to hold. How might a practice of sabbath and rest shape our beliefs about how we spend our time and energy? How might we discern what kind of rest we need? What could a practice of sabbath keeping and rest look like for you in your life? We’ll ponder these questions and more, and we will rest.

Retreat Leader

Sr. Miriam Elizabeth is a religious sister in the Order of Saint Helena, an Episcopal monastic order for women in North Augusta, SC, where she serves as the Community Leader. She has an active spiritual direction practice and is an experienced retreat leader. She serves as a supply priest in the Diocese of South Carolina and as a mentor for Backstory Preaching, an online ministry that helps preachers grow in the spirituality and craft of preaching. She received her M. Div. in 2002 from the Episcopal Theological Seminary of the Southwest in Austin, TX and served churches in south Texas for nine years before joining the order. Prior to ordination, she worked as a hospital and rehabilitation speech pathologist. She enjoys kayaking on cool mornings, as well as all things creative including preaching, cooking, quilting, and making art

Special Needs

If you have any special needs (mobility, dietary, etc.), please make sure to indicate them when requested in the registration form. One note from St. Marguerite’s regarding dietary preferences:

“A vegetarian option will be available at each meal. Please note that our kitchen is not equipped to prepare full vegan or gluten-free meals. We will also use our best efforts to accommodate food allergies, but because of possible cross contact, we cannot guarantee that any food item will be completely free from allergens. We recommend that guests with severe food limitations bring their own food to ensure safety. A shared refrigerator and microwave are available for guest use.
