About

This summer, youth (currently in grades 8-12) from across the Diocese of Newark are invited to embark on a transformative journey through the Southern United States, exploring the role of The Episcopal Church in the 1960s Civil Rights Movement.

Our pilgrimage, hosted by the diocese’s First Third of Life Commission, begins in Nashville and continues through Montgomery, Birmingham, and Atlanta. Together, we will visit iconic landmarks of the Civil Rights Movement, such as the 16th Street Baptist Church, National Center for Civil and Human Rights, and the King Center while hearing the powerful stories of those who fought for justice and equality. Participants will reflect on how faith can inspire action and change in the world.

The cost of the trip is $1,500, and scholarships are available to ensure broad participation.

Spots are capped at 16, so register today! (Others will be put on a waiting list.) Registration deadline: Wednesday, March 19.
