Care on the Corner in partnership with Hackensack Riverkeeper and the Hudson River Fishermen’s Association are offering a workshop for children aged 9 – 14 who are interested in learning about fishing – but are unsure where to start!
The kids will learn about:
• fresh water • brackish water • salt water…What’s the difference?
Fishing lingo… high tide… low tide…incoming… outgoing… Who cares?
Angling etiquette • Do I need a fishing license? • Where can I get one?
Where can I go fishing locally? • What type of fish can I catch? • Can I eat’em?
What type of rod and reel should I use? • What is tackle? • What knots do I use?
What type of bait do I need? • Will the worms bite me? And much more….
We will be there to answer your questions and help you with fishing equipment.
Show you how to cast, tie knots, and bait hooks.
We will be giving out a gently used fishing poles to each child in attendance.
Each child must be accompanied by an adult.
$25 per child • $10 for second child in family • free for adult chaperones
