151st Convention

The location is set, the catering is arranged, and the committees that make Convention possible are hard at work. As summer winds down, preparations are in full swing for the 151st Annual Convention of the Diocese of Newark, which will take place Saturday, November 15 at Calvary Church in Summit.

Those who attended the 2022 Convention will remember this welcoming location and the unique format of a one-day gathering. Check-in will open early that morning, and attendees are encouraged to arrive promptly to ensure they are present for the opening business and voting. Members of the Arrangements Committee will be on hand to guide deputies and clergy through the process and assist with seating. Meanwhile, the Liturgy and Worship Committee is preparing the day’s service, ensuring that prayer and fellowship remain central to this important event.

While the dais will look a little different this year, the work of Convention will continue to be led with dedication and care. John King will once again provide his steady guidance, helping ensure proceedings are conducted smoothly and in good order. Bishop Hughes is meeting regularly with Convention committees to ensure that this year’s gathering is not only a business session but also a reminder that we are One Diocese United in Christ.

In the coming weeks, additional information will be shared about navigating Convention, ensuring every congregation is represented in elections, and highlighting those who are being called to serve in leadership. The 151st Annual Convention promises to be a day of prayer, discernment, and community as we gather to do the work of the Church together.
