A QCD allows an eligible individual age 70½ or older to make a charitable gift directly from a traditional IRA to a qualifying charitable organization. For donors age 73 or older, a QCD may also count toward their required minimum distribution (RMD), the amount they are generally required to withdraw from certain retirement accounts each year.
