Our Mission: Join us in following Jesus Christ with bold acts of justice, peace, and love.
Our Vision: A world transformed, where all Creation knows God’s life-changing love.

Our diocese’s mission and vision statements emerged out of the diocesan-wide listening sessions held by the Strategic Visioning Project.

Also out of this work emerged a consensus about four particular areas where we should focus as we live into our mission and vision. These are described below; explore each one to learn more and connect with others doing this work.

“If we’re doing these things, we’re helping to transform the world.” – Bishop Hughes

First Third Of Life

The former Diocesan Youth Commission was expanded to form the First Third of Life Commission, which encompasses three affinity groups: Children & Families Ministry, Youth Ministry, and Young Adult & College Ministry.

Both individually and together, these groups organize events for fellowship and connection, and workshops for parish volunteers involved in these ministries.

Congregational Collaboration

In this time of rapid change and great need for the love of God, it was recognized that we are always stronger together. We are one diocese united in Christ’s mission. Congregational collaboration is one of the most important ways we can access that strength. Collaborations can take many forms, and coaches are available to facilitate your dreaming, praying and growing around this mode of being church. For more information, contact Canon Margo Peckham Clark, Canon for Congregational Life.

Justice for People & Planet

The Commission on Justice, Peace, and Racial Reconciliation was formed to engage diocesan members to educate, pray, act, and advocate on behalf of all creation and God’s Beloved Community.

Along with many resources, they also publish a weekly Justice Action newsletter, which summarizes upcoming opportunities to support immigration rights, voter registration, economic and environmental justice, and more.

Communications

To help parishes and other diocesan entities tell their stories and connect with the outside world, the group Parish Communicators was formed to develop skills, share resources, and provide mutual support.

This group meets every 4-6 weeks via Zoom. Visit their page to find out the next meeting, and for other communications resources.
