Diocese launches redesigned, mobile-friendly website

New diocesan website

The Episcopal Diocese of Newark has launched an upgraded and redesigned website at dioceseofnewarkorg, with improved navigation, bolder images and a mobile-friendly design.

All of the same content continues to be available, with a cleaner organization that highlights content intended for the general public. Clicking “More” on the main menu provides access to a vast array of resources for clergy, lay leaders and congregations. Of particular note is a new “Church Administration Resources” page listed under “Congregations,” which conveniently collects together in one place links to resources important to church leaders.

The enhanced website, which has been under development for four months, runs on version 7 of the Drupal content management system. Since September 2011 the site had been maintained on Drupal 6, which is no longer supported.

Nina Nicholson, the diocesan Director of Communications and Technology, and Randy Johnson, Administrator for Diocesan Ministries, worked with BackOffice Thinking of West Chester, PA to develop the new site. Jan Paxton and John Rollins of the diocesan Technology Committee helped with user acceptance testing before the site's launch.
