Small Footprints Camp at House of Prayer

The House of Prayer in Newark hosted a great eco camp led by Betsy LaVela and many youth and adult volunteers. The youth were treated to science, sacred stories, art, games and music about recycling and rethinking the care of God’s Creation. I saw amazing teamwork, cooperation and learning taking place and I also learned what happens when you microwave soap! Below are Betsy’s reflections:

“The highlight for me was taking the campers out to clean the area around the facility... and the parking lot. We collected over five bags of trash within 20 minutes-- and it truly looked much better. the kids enjoy the swap table. Anything on that table needed a new home. The kids and teens and adults could add to the table... and then were invited to take anything. Everything from stuffed animals to books to school supplies to hairbands and jewelry could be found on the table.”
