Why do we doubt we are loved? - Meditation for Monday of Lent I

Why do we doubt we are loved?

Not feeling loved leads us to fear and insecurity.
People will speak to us and we should heed their words;
who do they think they are offering their advice or loving guidance?

They allow themselves to be vulnerable in their honesty.
Our insecurity can lead to jealousy; even toward family and friends,
as their words start to unpeel the layers we use to cover ourselves.

They come to us speaking in love, in the name of God.
They tell us that God loves all of us
and we can live in harmony with one another in God’s love.

Why do we doubt we are loved?

The readings for Monday of Lent I are Psalm 41, 52; Gen. 37:1-11; 1 Cor. 1:1-19; Mark 1:1-13 and can be found at
