God coming into the world once more - Meditation for Sunday of Advent IV

On this 4th Sunday of Advent when your heart and mind might well be more geared to the upcoming celebration of Christ’s nativity than remembering it is still Advent, we have today's readings. They take us from the temptation by the serpent/snake to the picture of a woman, but not Mary, in the agony of giving birth. We read from the very beginning of our scriptures and the very end; from the alpha to the omega. God was with humanity at the beginning despite the failure of humans to obey God’s commands. God was with the woman saving her and her baby. And God is with you. The Gospel verse we know so well reminds us:

“God so loved the world that he gave his only Son,
so that everyone who believes in him may not perish,
but may have eternal life.”

We now await God’s incarnation, God coming into the world once more, Let us prepare our hearts by resolving to be obedient to God’s commands and allow our hearts to give birth to a wealth of love and joy.

Emmanuel – God with us; God with you. This day may you know the blessing of God and may you be a blessing of God to others
