Alleluia Songs of Advent

A meditation on Psalm 89:1-4, 19-26.

I am struck by two aspects of God’s love in this passage – its strength and its steadfastness.  “I will crush his foes before him.”  “My faithfulness and love shall be with him.” When reflecting on this unwavering and powerful love in the context of our Alleluia Fund ministries, I feel God’s nudge to crush the foes: homelessness, hunger, hopelessness.  And, to offer faithfulness and love to all our neighbors, but especially those who are most vulnerable.

I am also reminded of the shared joy I experienced at the Interfaith Food Pantry of the Oranges’ annual coat distribution.  A young client tried on many, many coats.  We considered the fit, the warmth, the color, the style.  And then, we found it - a perfect bright pink parka with a white faux fur lined hood!
