Reception of a Priest from a Church in Full Communion

The Rev. Martin Malzahn, Clergy-in-Charge of the Church of St. Paul and Incarnation in Jersey City, has been in a process to formally transfer from the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, where he was ordained, to the Episcopal Church. Both churches are in full communion with each other and recognize and honor the Sacraments of each church, including ordination, but a formal process is necessary for a clergyperson to leave one denomination and be recognized in another.

Having completed a process of preparation and additional education, Pastor Malzahn will be formally recognized and received as a priest of the Episcopal Church at a service at 11 AM on Tuesday, November 25, 2025, at the Church of St. Paul and Incarnation.
