About

On the fourth Sunday of each month at 3 PM, our diocese will hold a brief prayer vigil outside the Delaney Hall ICE detention facility.

GUIDELINES FOR ATTENDEES

  • Let someone know that you are going (who is not going themselves).
  • Bring masks and bottled water in case of pepper spray.
  • Do not bring young children.
  • Parking availability. Parking is sometimes very limited; carpooling is encouraged. Parking may be available at the Visitor Lot for the County Jail next door, or along Doremus Ave. or a neighboring street. Carefully observe all signs to avoid being ticketed or towed. At times, a checkpoint may be established a few blocks from the facility, further limiting parking.
  • Gathering point. When a checkpoint is in place we will gather there and enter the area together at 3 PM to walk to the Vigil site. If no checkpoint is in place, we will gather near the hospitality tent.
  • Wear comfortable shoes. If a checkpoint is in use, you may have to walk 7/10 mile to Delaney Hall, and then back again, depending on parking availability. You also will be standing for this event, as the options for sitting will be limited.
  • Pack light. If you bring any kind of bag, backpack, or bulky item, be prepared to have to leave them in your car. When a checkpoint is in use, they will not be allowed on site.

If you’d like to bring a small sign, click here for some printable PDFs.

IF YOU CAN’T ATTEND
If you are not able to join us in person, we will do our best to live stream the vigil to the diocesan Facebook page. You can also pray at the same time from wherever you are, in solidarity with us.
