Celebrate the Feast of Absalom Jones

The Rev. Absalom Jones
Sun, Feb 12 2012, 3:00pm to 4:00pm

The Newark chapter of the Union of Black Episcopalians (UBE) invites you to attend the annual Absalom Jones Day celebration at Trinity & St. Philip's Cathedral in Newark. This annual event celebrates the life and ministry of the Rev. Absalom Jones, the first black person to be ordained a priest in the Episcopal Church.

Join members of our wider diocesan family as we gather at Trinity and St. Philip's Cathedral for this uplifting celebration. Choirs from around our diocese are invited to participate in the massed choir. Bishop Mark Beckwith will be the celebrant and the Rev'd Dr. Martini Shaw, Rector of the African Episcopal Church of St. Thomas in Philadelphia, Absalom Jones' original church, will be the guest preacher.
