Death in our diocesan family: Roy H. Stoeckel, Sr.

With sadness we share the news of the death of Roy H. Stoeckel, Sr., 95, on January 14, 2018. He was the father of the Rev. Audrey Hasselbrook.

The funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 18, 10 AM at Grace Church in Nutley, where Roy was a long-time member. The scattering will immediately follow in the Grace Church Memorial Garden.

An Army Veteran of World War II and a member of the Military Order of the Purple Heart, Roy retired as an engineer with the United States Government Department of Defense at Picatinny Arsenal in Wharton, NJ and was a former member of the Professional Engineers Association of New Jersey.

Roy is survived by his children, Roy H. Stoeckel, Jr., Patricia M. Lockwood, Elisabeth Wharton and the Rev. Audrey Hasselbrook; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and many other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his wife, Patricia (Campbell) Stoeckel, and his brother, Melvin O. Stoeckel.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to the Grace Episcopal Church Memorial Fund, 200 Highfield Lane, Nutley, NJ 07110.

Lord, for your faithful people life is changed, not ended. When the body of our earthly dwelling lies in death we gain an everlasting dwelling place in heaven. Lord, grant eternal rest, forever in the radiance of your light. Amen.
