The Rev. Lorraine M. DughiWith sadness we share the news of the death of the Rev. Lorraine M. Dughi, 95, on July 18, 2021 at her home in Hackettstown.

Entering the ordination process after retirement from a career as a teacher and school librarian, Lorraine was ordained to the priesthood in 2006 at age 80, the oldest woman ever to be ordained in the Episcopal Church. She served as Associate Pastor at St. Peter's, Clifton with a special calling to minister to seniors. After retiring from active priestly ministry, she became an Oblate with the Sisters of the Community of St. John Baptist in Mendham, and continued her ministry to seniors at Chestnut Hills Nursing Home, Health Village and House of the Good Shepherd. In accordance with her family's wishes, a private funeral service was held earlier today.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Community of Saint John Baptist at P.O. Box 240 Mendham, NJ 07945.

Good and gracious God, the light of the faithful and shepherd of souls, you sent your servant Lorraine to be a priest in your Church to feed your sheep with your word and to guide them by her example; give us the grace to keep the faith she taught and to follow in her footsteps. We entrust her into your unfailing mystery of Love and Hope through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
