Votive candles

With sadness we share the news of the death of the Rev. L. Paul Woodrum, 77, on May 22, 2018. A Funeral Liturgy will be held at 11 AM on Tuesday, June 12, 2018, at the Cathedral of the Incarnation, 50 Cathedral Avenue in Garden City, NY. The Rt. Rev. Lawrence C. Provenzano, Bishop of Long Island, will preside. (See the Diocese of Long Island announcement.)

After his ordination to the priesthood in 1966, Paul served churches in Pennsylvania before coming to the Diocese of Newark, where he served as Vicar at St. Gabriel's, Milton/Oak Ridge (1969-1976); Grace, Rutherford (1976-1979); and Church of Our Saviour, Secaucus (also 1976-1979). He later went on to serve churches in New York.

Paul was active in Integrity from its early years. The Integrity website has shared a remembrance of Paul by their founder, Louie Crew Clay. Read it here.

Paul is survived by his husband of 37 years, Victor Challenor. Condolences may be sent to Victor at 651 East 102nd Street, Brooklyn, NY 11236.

Good and gracious God, the light of the faithful and shepherd of souls, you sent your servant Paul to be a priest in your Church to feed your sheep with your word and to guide them by his example; give us the grace to keep the faith he taught and to follow in his footsteps. We entrust him into your unfailing mystery of Love and Hope through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
