Death in our diocesan family: The Rev. Clarence William Sickles

The Rev. Clarence William SicklesWith sadness we share the news of the death of the Rev. Clarence William Sickles, 99, on April 14, 2020, peacefully with his wife by his side at the Clarence W. Sickles Health Care Center at Heath Village. Clarence founded Heath Village in 1966, and also served at St. James’, Hackettstown, as well as several other churches in the Diocese of Newark. He is survived by his loving wife of 70 years, Jean Stover Sickles, his four daughters Mary Roberts (John), Martha Sickles, Margaret Sheldon (Jim), Monica Cook (Pete); his four sons, Mark Sickles, Michael Sickles (Barbara), Martin Sickles (Jean), and Matthew Sickles; thirteen grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at a later date.

Good and gracious God, the light of the faithful and shepherd of souls, you sent your servant Clarence to be a priest in your Church to feed your sheep with your word and to guide them by his example; give us the grace to keep the faith he taught and to follow in his footsteps. We entrust him into your unfailing mystery of Love and Hope through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
