Death in our diocesan family: L. Dorothy “Sunny” Waltke Bleich Lehman

L. Dorothy "Sunny" Waltke Bleich LehmanWith sadness we share the news of the death of L. Dorothy “Sunny” Waltke Bleich Lehman, 93, on December 5, 2018 in Englewood. She was the mother of the Rev. Lynne Bleich Weber, Rector of Church of the Atonement in Tenafly, and mother-in-law of the Rev. Dean Weber, Rector of All Saints' Church in Leonia.

Visitation will be Tuesday, December 11, 4-7 PM at Barrett Funeral Home in Tenafly. A Service of Burial and Holy Eucharist will be held Wednesday, December 12, 10:30 AM at Church of the Atonement, 97 Highwood Ave in Tenafly, followed by Committal at Laurel Grove Cemetery in Totowa.

Born April 14, 1925 in Jersey City, Sunny taught 6th grade at Lakeside School in Pompton Lakes for 25 years. She was married to Theodore L. Bleich for 40 years until his death in 1985. Since 1993 she has lived in Florida and worshipped at St. Gregory’s Episcopal Church in Boca Raton, where there will be a Memorial Service on a future date.

In addition to Lynne and Dean, Sunny is survived by her son Bruce Bleich and brother Bruce Waltke.

Lord, for your faithful people life is changed, not ended. When the body of our earthly dwelling lies in death we gain an everlasting dwelling place in heaven. Lord, grant eternal rest, forever in the radiance of your light. Amen.
