Wednesdays Away (In-Person): "Para + dox"

Wednesdays Away at Cross Roads
Wed, Feb 2 2022, 9:30am to 3:00pm

Wednesdays Away is a time of spiritual renewal hosted by Cross Roads Camp and Retreat Center. Time together includes prayer and conversation, led by a spiritual director and focusing on a different spiritual practice or theme each month. These monthly retreats are open to all people interested in exploring new faith practices. Attend one or attend all—and be sure to invite friends to join you.

The retreat programming goes from 10 am to 3:00 pm in person at Cross Roads (check-in will begin at 9:30 am). The cost is $50 per in-person gathering and includes lunch. Out of love for community and in response to the current pandemic, participants must be vaccinated and show proof of vaccination as well as negative results from a COVID test taken within 72 hours of the event date.

The February retreat will be led by Josh Kelly and is titled "Para + dox." Retreat Leader Josh Kelly describes the retreat theme in this way: We have many views, opinions, and beliefs surrounding our own understanding of the Divine. Often we frame God as this, but not that,(for example God is fully present, but God is never absent, or God is only limitless and not limited). How might our views of the divine shift if we considered God as this AND that? What if getting a better grasp of God means letting go of one, and allowing the other space to be, embracing a framework of paradox in our views of the divine? Sounds overly philosophical and abstract? Maybe, but consider the cross – is it death? or is it life?
