Mental Health First Aid
Sat, Jun 8 2019, 8:30am to 5:30pm

You may know CPR and the Heimlich Maneuver; you can call 911. But can you administer first aid in a mental health crisis? Learn how on Saturday, June 8 from 8:30 AM to 5:30 PM.

The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP) New Jersey Chapter is providing a Mental Health First Aid workshop through funds raised by the Verona Park/West Essex Out of Darkness Walk. Mental Health First Aid teaches:

  • Risk factors & warning signs of mental health concerns.
  • Information on depression, anxiety, trauma, psychosis, and substance use.
  • A 5-step action plan to help someone developing a mental health concern or in crisis.
  • Available evidence-based professional, peer, and self-help resources.

A light breakfast (at 8 AM) and lunch will be provided by The Fruited Plain Caterers of Parsippany.

To register contact Rosemary Gabbe at 973-865-8054 or email rosemary@thefruitedplain.com. Class size is limited to 30 – register early!

This workshop is co-sponsored by Church of the Holy Spirit Verona.
