Since its inception in 2010, the Alleluia Fund for Outreach has helped feed the hungry, shelter the homeless, comfort the elderly and support education, enrichment and mentoring for at-risk children throughout the diocese.
In November 2013, $100,000 in grants was awarded to 35 organizations through the Alleluia Fund. The grants were approved by Diocesan Council at their meeting on December 11, 2013.
My favorite definition of stewardship is “All we do with all we have, all the time,” thus making stewardship a year-round enterprise.
Most of our congregations have completed their annual pledge campaign, and are preparing for the Christmas holidays. I invite you to include the Alleluia Fund for Outreach in your holiday giving; and to consider your contribution as another part of year-round stewardship.
Garden State Episcopal CDC received a grant from the Alleluia Fund to add nursing services to its Hudson CASA Recovery Support Project Homeless Drop-in Program. The program has been very successful in serving low-income and homeless individuals, many of whom are not connected with healthcare services. The provision of this grant has allowed us to enhance the program by having a nurse at the Drop-in Center once a week. In 2012 the Alleluia Fund granted $5,500 to the Afterschool Program of the Interfaith Hospitality Network of Essex County. Recently Ellen Donker, a Development Associate with IHN, shared the following stories about the Afterschool Program, saying, "The Alleluia Fund contributed greatly to its success."
Sally Muscarella has begun consulting with the Fund Development Committee and the staff at Episcopal House on an interim basis to coordinate the Alleluia Fund, while we continue to search for a part-time Advisor to the Bishop for Fund Development.

Family Promise of Bergen County helps working families with children who have temporarily hit rough times and lost a place to live. By pulling together a network of volunteers of all ages, Family Promise of Bergen County works to reduce homelessness and transform lives.
Nowhere is God’s grace more visible in our diocese than in the ministries and programs strengthened through the Alleluia Fund. Since its inception, the Diocese of Newark’s Alleluia Fund has awarded more than $360,000 to ministries and outreach programs in Northern New Jersey and internationally. $7,100 to provide summer educational services for low-income children living in public housing in Hoboken.
Care on the Corner Community Service Center (St. John the Divine, Hasbrouck Heights, NJ)
$4,000 to support children and young adult visual and performing arts programs - Kids on the Corner and NewARTS Kids.
