With sadness we share the news of the death of the Rev. William M. Dunning on August 12, 2026.
Ordained in this diocese in 1962, Bill served as Curate at St. John’s, Dover until July 1964, before going on to serve congregations in Massachusetts, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, Delaware and Maryland. Read his full obituary.
Bill will lie-in-state at Sherwood Episcopal Church, 5 Sherwood Rd, Cockeysville, MD 21030 on Saturday, August 22 from 9:30-10:30 AM. A Celebration of Life service will begin at 11 AM followed by interment at Dulaney Valley Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations in Father Bill’s name may be made to Sherwood Episcopal Church or to Boston University College of Arts and Sciences.
Good and gracious God, the light of the faithful and shepherd of souls, you sent your servant Bill to be a priest in your Church to feed your sheep with your word and to guide them by his example; give us the grace to keep the faith he taught and to follow in his footsteps. We entrust him into your unfailing mystery of Love and Hope through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
