All The Way Up Adult Education Center celebrates its tenth anniversary as it welcomes the incoming class enrollments this fall 2026. More than 150 adult learners will begin class instruction led by professional educators and volunteer tutors. All The Way Up Adult Education Center offers individualized training in High School Equivalency/GED Preparation, Adult Basic Education, English as a Second Language and Job Readiness Skills. Founded in 2016 by a group of charitable, faith-based, and community leaders, All The Way Up serves adult learners in Newark, New Jersey and surrounding communities in greater Essex County.

“All The Way Up continues to build upon its core mission to inspire adult learners with educational opportunity and job preparedness skills, empowering them to take one step closer to accomplishing their goals within the classroom, the workforce, and beyond,” said Christopher Harlow-Jennings, Executive Director. “Our graduates are succeeding as many have continued studies at area community colleges and trade schools, and gained employment in such diverse industries as healthcare, culinary arts, construction, retail, office administration, and transportation.”

All The Way Up was launched in 2016 to respond to the needs of Newark Central Ward, near the House of Prayer Episcopal Church. The Episcopal Diocese of Newark brought together urban and suburban church leaders to discern the needs of the neighborhood around the House of Prayer, and health and education emerged as top priorities. All The Way Up was formed to address the educational needs of Newark residents, where only 22% of adults have earned a high school diploma. Today, accessible and personalized attention to adult education embodies its core mission. All The Way Up’s approach to teaching, based on one-on-one sessions between educators and volunteer tutors with their students, is the foundation for learning, which has proven a key element of student success. Curriculum objectives track students’ progress in terms of grade level improvement by using the Comprehensive Adult Student Assessment Systems (CASAS) at the beginning and end of each semester. In recent years, All The Way Up incorporated English as a Second Language classes and Job Readiness classes and workshops to expand its impact and reach throughout Newark and neighboring Essex County communities.

“We are grateful to the many donors and benefactors that have contributed so generously, galvanizing efforts to continually broaden our robust educational offerings and job readiness resources. All The Way Up initiatives are enabling adult learners achieve their educational dreams to realize a more rewarding life for themselves, as well as their families and loved ones,” emphasized John B. Sogliuzzo, President of the Board of Directors.
