Giving thanks opens us to the promise of life - Meditation for Friday of Advent II

Advent wreath with two candles lit.

When the hour came, Jesus gave thanks.  Thank you beloved friend for showing us that in the midst of suffering and pain, giving thanks opens us to the promise of life.

Simple chalice and a loaf of bread on a wooden tableDear Friends,

This is a picture of a simple chalice and a loaf of bread on a wooden table. Looking up at us from the inside of the chalice is an image of Christ on the cross. Near his head which is seen only faintly, there is a very bright sun that radiates a glorious light that extends from his head across his body and the cross, glows throughout the clouds and colorful sky, and shines on the chalice, on the loaf of bread and on the table.

The readings for Friday of Advent II are Psalm 31 , Isa. 7:10-25, 2 Thess. 2:13––3:5, and Luke 22:14-30.
