George E. Rath Scholarship Fund

Established by The Rt. Rev. George E. Rath, 7th Bishop of Newark, this education fund provides children of canonically resident clergy with extra financial assistance for college expenses at accredited four-year education institutions. Application deadline for 2017-2018 academic year: May 15, 2017.

The application deadline has been changed to simplify the application process. The application must be received in the Bishop's Office on or before the application deadline. Late applications have an impact on the award decisions and may adversely affect everyone's award. Please submit applications on time.

Application Form

The application is one page and is attached in PDF format for download. The application must be complete, it must have original signatures; it may not be a fax or email transmission. Incomplete applications will be returned and/or may not be considered. Receipt of applications is not acknowledged; enclose a stamped self-addressed postcard or envelope if acknowledgment is desired.

Eligibility

Children of canonically resident clergy or of deceased clergy who were canonically resident at the time of death. The applicant must have been accepted or currently enrolled at an accredited four-year institution of higher learning.

Awards

The two senior members of the Standing Committee assist the Bishop in determining the awards.

Award letters and checks are mailed by June 1 directly to the student. All applicants receive a minimum award and the awards are based on family income, financial need and available funds.
