"Undoing Racism"

“Undoing Racism” is a 2-1/2 day introductory workshop retreat, instructed by The Peoples Institute for Survival and Beyond, and assisted by members of the Diocesan Anti-Racism Commission/Team of the Diocese of NJ. The workshop’s systemic approach emphasizes understanding racism, learning from history, developing leadership, maintaining accountability to communities, undoing internalized racial oppression, and understanding the role of organizational gate keeping as a mechanism to perpetuate institutional racism.

The workshop is a residential retreat, beginning with dinner at 6 PM on Thursday, April 7, followed by training until 9 PM. Instruction begins after breakfast (provided) at 8:30 AM on Friday, April 8 and Saturday, April 9 and ends on Saturday at 4 PM.

The training location is graciously provided by parish leaders at St. Francis’ Church, 400 New Market Road, Dunellen, NJ 08812 (732-968-6781).

Hotel lodging has been secured at Hampton Inn - South Plainfield/Piscataway, 205 New World Way, South Plainfield, NJ 07080 (908-561-2600).
