Resolution approving consolidation of St. Luke's Church, Hope and St. Mary's Episcopal Church, Belvidere into Episcopal Church of St. Luke and St. Mary, Hope and Belvidere

WHEREAS, this 142nd Annual Convention of the Episcopal Diocese of Newark gives thanks to God for the historic ministries of St. Luke’s Church, Hope and St. Mary’s Episcopal Church, Belvidere, Warren County, New Jersey, as they have worked together to create and build a new congregation—Episcopal Church of St. Luke and St. Mary, Hope and Belvidere—a unification of two congregations which have historically existed; and

WHEREAS, this Convention commends the effective proclamation of the Gospel by words and deeds of its laity and clergy, and applauds its mature, effective commitment to stewardship of its financial and physical assets, relishes its warm Christian fellowship, and , recognizing that both St. Luke’s Church and St. Mary’s Church have voted through their respective congregations to submit an application for consolidation of their parish and mission and union with this Convention under the new corporate name of Episcopal Church of St. Luke and St. Mary, Hope and Belvidere; and

WHEREAS, this application has been found to comply with the Constitution and Canons of the Episcopal Diocese of Newark and the provisions of N.J.S.A. 16:12-15 regarding the consolidation and renaming of congregations; and

WHEREAS, the application for consolidation has been approved by the Bishop, and the Standing Committee of the Episcopal Diocese of Newark pursuant to N.J.S.A. 16-12-15;

NOW BE IT RESOLVED, that this 142nd Convention of the Episcopal Diocese of Newark hereby approves, ratifies, and confirms this application for consolidation of St. Luke’s Church, Hope and St. Mary’s Episcopal Church, Belvidere, into the consolidated parish of Episcopal Church of St. Luke and St. Mary, Hope and Belvidere; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that this 142nd Convention of the Episcopal Diocese of Newark welcomes Episcopal Church of St. Luke and St. Mary, Hope and Belvidere as a member parish in union with the Episcopal Diocese of Newark.
