The diocesan budget for 2013 was presented to the 139th Annual Convention and was adopted on January 26, 2013.  The following information was presented to the Convention:

The diocese received 96 pledges by January 17, 2013 (out of 106 congregations). Of those 96 congregations:

Resolutions to be considered for action by the Annual Convention shall be submitted to the Secretary of Convention in writing and signed by a deputy by the deadline of Thursday, November 15.

The Resolutions Committee is scheduled to meet on Wednesday, November 28 to consider the resolutions submitted by the deadline date.

Attached is the presentation introducing the Church Website Project at Annual Convention on January 28, 2012.

The Bishop's Advisory Committee on Human Resoures and Benefits proposes three resolutions for adoption at the convention and provided a Summary of Clergy Compensation Policies.  The three resolutions the Minimum Cash Salary for Clergy; Recommended Merit Increase Guidelines; and Pension Benefits for Lay Employees and Clergy.

The report will be presented at each of the three pre-convention meetings in January for action by the Diocesan Convention on January 27 and 28, 2012.

The Clergy Compensation Report and the accompanying resolutions were adopted at the 2012 Convention.  The report contained three resolutions that addressed the minimum cash salary for clergy in 2013, recommended merit increase guidelines, and established pension benefits for lay employees and clergy.  All three resolutions were adopted.

The Committee on Constitution and Canons met on November 29, 2011 to consider a proposed change to Canon 13 regarding the Committee on the Church Pension Fund that was referred by the Bishop's Advisory Committee on Human Resources and Benefits.  The revision gives effect to the resolutions of General Convention (specifically Resolution A-138 of the 2009 General Convention) mandating the provision of pension benefits to qualified clergy and law employees.

Members of the Resolutions Committee will introduce the resolutions at each of the three pre-convention meetings in January.  There will be hearings on all resolutions (except those on the Consent Calendar, unless removed) at the convention on Friday, January 27, 2012.  The resolutions will be presented for deputy action on Saturday, January 28, 2012.

An orientation for new deputies and others who might be interested in learning about the rules that govern convention will be held on Friday morning at 9:30am in the Morris 10 room.  The session will be led by Carol Harrison-Arnold, Esq., parliamentarian.

Workshops will be held on Friday morning between 10:30 a.m. and 12:00 p.m.; on Friday afternoon starting at 4:30 p.m.; and on Saturday during the lunch time break.

Deputies at the 137th Annual Convention approved a balanced $2.58 million budget without amendments on the first vote (attached, with narrative).

RESOLUTION VII: (Adopted)

RESOLVED, that the 128th Convention of the Diocese of Newark mandates the granting of parental leave in conformance with the resolution passed by General Convention in 2000, to wit:
