On Sunday, September 11, members of the Jewish, Muslim and Christian faiths gathered at Trinity & St. Philip's Cathedral in Newark to mark the 10th anniversary of 9/11. The interfaith service, attended by Newark Mayor Cory Booker, blended religious readings, chants and music from the three faiths under the guidance of Bishop Mark Beckwith, Rabbi Matthew Gewirtz of Temple B'Nai Jeshurun in Short Hills, and Imam Wahy-ud Deen Shareef of the Masjid Waarith ud Deen in Irvington. The three clergymen, the executive team of the Newark Interfaith Coalition for Hope & Peace, work together on anti-violence initiatives in Newark.
