Episcopal Relief & Development

The 75th Anniversary edition of Episcopal Relief & Development’s Lenten Meditations is now available in English and Spanish for the 2015 Lenten season.

This year’s meditations, authored by a diverse group of Episcopal Church and Anglican Communion leaders, center on the five “I Believe” statements at the core of Episcopal Relief & Development’s 75th Anniversary efforts:

  • I believe that everyone should have access to clean water.
  • I believe that no one should go hungry.
  • I believe that all children and families deserve a healthy start in life.
  • I believe that no one should live in poverty.
  • I believe that together we can heal a hurting world.

Lent Madness lentmadness.org

Lent MadnessThis unique Lenten devotion is a fun, engaging way for people to learn about the men and women comprising the Calendar of Saints.

Modeled after basketball's March Madness, 32 saints are placed into a tournament-like single elimination bracket. Each weekday of Lent beginning the day after Ash Wednesday – Thursday, February 19 – information about two different saits is posted at lentmadness.org. Participants have 24 hours to vote for their favorite saint in each pairing. The winning saints advance to the round of the Saintly Sixteen, followed by the rounds of the Elate Eight and the Faithful Four. Finally two saints face off for the Championship, with the winner awarded the coveted "Golden Halo."

Articles and spots about Lent Madness have appeared in the Washington Post, NPR, Huffington Post, FOXNews, NBC, and even Sports Illustrated.

This year, Bishop Mark Beckwith and members of diocesan staff will participate in Lent Madness as both a Lenten discipline and a friendly competition with one another.

Find out more about Lent Madness at lentmadness.org. You can also follow it on Facebook (facebook.com/lentmadness) and Twitter (twitter.com/LentMadness or @LentMadness).

The Episcopal Church: Daily Prayer for All Seasons episcopalchurch.org/library/document/daily-prayer-all-seasons

Developed by the Standing Commission on Liturgy and Music and authorized by the 77th General Convention in 2012, Daily Prayer for All Seasons offers a variation of the Daily Office in the Book of Common Prayer. Designed to provide a holy – and wholly realistic – way to order our days, each complete service covers one or two pages at most, and works for individuals, small groups, and/or congregations.

The prayers in Daily Prayer for All Seasons are presented according to liturgical season beginning with Advent and progressing through to Ordinary Time. Those seeking a prayerful Lenten discipline might use the services for Lent beginning on page 60.

The free PDF of Daily Prayer for All Seasons can be downloaded at episcopalchurch.org/library/document/daily-prayer-all-seasons.
