Death in our diocesan family: Susan Kynor

Susan Kynor

With sadness we share the news of the death of Susan Kynor on January 9, 2017. A memorial mass will be celebrated to honor her life and ministry on Saturday, February 25, 2017 at 11 AM at Church of the Epiphany and Christ Church, 105 Main Street in Orange.

Susan was an active member of the former Christ Church, East Orange and served the Diocese of Newark as a board member of the diocesan Episcopal Church Women (ECW), where she served on the UTO and Communications committees. She was also a member of the Lay Reader’s Guild and the Mission to Dismantle Racism (a pre-cursor to Namaste) and served on Diocesan Council in the mid 2000’s. She was frequently elected a deputy to Diocesan Convention from Christ Church.

In the wider church, Susan was part of the Province II leadership, involved with the Church Periodical Club.

In her community, Susan was active in the League of Women Voters, serving on both the state and county boards. She was active in the East Orange Discipleship Team where she was a major sponsor of the annual CROP Walk, regularly driving her car to assist any walkers who could not complete the walk.

Susan often was a sharp critic of social injustice and could be an ardent agitator for the parish and diocese to support those most in need. Susan moved from her East Orange home to her home in Whiting several years ago. In the past year she resided in a nursing home.

God, our Father, we thank you that you have made each of us in your own image,
and given us gifts and talents with which to serve you.
We thank you for Susan, the years we shared with her,
the good we saw in her, the love we received from her.
Now give us strength and courage, to leave her in your care,
confident in your promise of eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
