Death in our diocesan family: Marc William Hembree

Marc William Hembree

With deep sadness we share the news of the death of Marc William Hembree, 53, on Friday, August 11, 2017. Visitation will be held on Friday August 25, 2017, 2 - 4 PM and 7 - 9 PM at the Robert Spering Funeral Home (155 Kinderkamack Road, Park Ridge). A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, August 26, 10 AM at St Paul’s Church (4 Woodland Road, Montvale).

Marc was the beloved son of Christina Gruning Hembree and Dr. Wylie C. Hembree, III and devoted brother of Amanda Hembree. Born in Boston on July 3, 1964, he grew up in New Jersey, attended Woodcliff Lake public schools, graduated high school from Dwight Englewood School followed by a college prep program at Bridgton Academy in Maine, and received his BA Degree from Fairleigh Dickenson University.

Professionally, Marc worked for 20 years as a Senior Customer Service Representative of Penguin Random House. His email “BookCrazy” carried his love of books to the world. He also served as a member of the TriBoro Ambulance Corps.

Marc served as a member of the ACTS/VIM Board and a co-convenor of District 9, and was a familiar and friendly face at many diocesan gatherings. An active member of St. Paul’s, Montvale, where he served on the Vestry, he had been scheduled to give a Lay Homily on Sunday, August 13. Such was his commitment to this church.

In addition to his parents and sister, Marc is also survived by four loving aunts and uncles and four cousins.

Condolences may be sent to:
