At least one third of our congregations braved record cold to join Bishop Beckwith and Canon Jacobs in giving Ashes to Go at train stations, bus stops, coffee shops and other public locations across northern New Jersey on Ash Wednesday, February 18, 2015. Here is a round-up of the online media coverage.

On Shrove Tuesday, February 17, the Daily Record published an advance article, highlighted on their website's home page, detailing to the Ashes to Go efforts of our congregations in Morris County. The article included interviews with the Rev. Margaret Otterburn of Church of the Messiah in Chester, the Rev. Tim Carr of St. John's Church in Boonton, and the Rev. Adele Hatfield of St. Peter's Church in Mountain Lakes.

On Ash Wednesday, the Daily Record published a follow-up article including a photo of the Rev. Margaret Otterburn dispensing ashes at the Chester Springs Shopping Center.

Also on Ash Wednesday, the Star-Ledger reported on Bishop Beckwith's experience dispensing ashes to 112 morning commuters at Newark Penn Station, and used several diocesan photos.

Meanwhile, the Jersey Journal published an online photo gallery showing the Rev. Gregory Perez and members of Trinity Church in Bayonne offering Ashes to Go to to commuters at the Eighth Street Hudson Bergen Light Rail Station. The Trinity, Bayonne contingent also handed out granola bars "to nourish the body" they said.
