2014 outreach, congregational support and scholarships

Shepherd's Haven Social Day Center in Pompton Lakes
By:
Suzanne Willian, Advisor to the Bishop for Development

Our diocese distributed over $1,000,000 in outreach, congregational support, and scholarships in 2014. This financial support of God’s work in our neighborhoods and communities is made possible by donations from individuals and congregations, and by church pledges. Thank you for your generosity and commitment!

The past generosity of those in our diocese also funds this work. For example, the Gertrude Butts scholarship honors the memory of a young woman who died in 1904 and the ACTS/VIM endowment (A Commitment To Serve/Venture in Mission) results from a capital campaign launched in 1979.

Alleluia Fund for Outreach Grants - $165,100

The Alleluia Fund supports programs providing practical, hands-on support to those most vulnerable in our diocese and internationally, and supported by our communities of faith or their members. Key areas of support include food for the hungry, shelter for the homeless, education for youth and adults, and international programs providing relief and/or support of the Millennium Development Goals. 2014 grants prioritized food and shelter ministries in the diocese.
