Clergy & Congregation Transition Ministry

Transition Ministry in the Episcopal Diocese of Newark is a four-step process which may take up to 18 months. The steps are:

  1. Separation & Planning – Clergy in process of leave-taking; congregation developing interim ministry plan.
  2. Self Study – Congregation preparing to call Interim or Priest-in-Charge; Search Committee formed; Parish profile and ministry portfolio being developed.
  3. Discernment – Search Committee discerning best candidates for congregation's ministry.
  4. Call to New Ministry – Vestry discerning "best fit" among final candidates presented.
