Initial Entry

Dear Friends:

This will be the 6th General Convention that I have attended, the second in Indianapolis. The first was in 1994. I hope to have some worthy words to share with you from Convention as the bishops and deputies pray and discern over the national church budget and its priorities; the denominational health plan; the election of a new president in the House of Deputies; and my favorite, congregational mission and ministry strategy. There are also issues that take center stage that no one ever sees coming. So stay tuned. It promises to be an interesting gathering.
