Congregational Goals for Interim periods:
- For the congregation to see itself as the people of God with or without a rector
- For the congregation to clarify or re-define its identity and sense of direction
- For the congregation to identify the gifts it has to move in the desired direction and the gifts that it needs from a priest
- For the congregation to find a priest with the desired gifts

- To help clergy discern and find the ministries to which God is calling them
- To engage entire congregations with:

- Priorities for next priest
- Praying
- Seeking names of possible matches
- To help congregations maximize the number of potential matches, rather than the number of clergy names
- To help congregations and clergy seek the best match, rather than the best priest or the best congregation
